What is your venue’s history?
A little more than 100 years ago, a quaint country inn on the pristine Northern Michigan lake shores opened its doors to visitors who traveled hundreds of miles to enjoy the beauty of the hidden gem that lie before them – Walloon Lake. Historically named Fern Cottage, the Inn was a destination for many visitors and also served as a docking point for the steamboats that would take visitors to local hotels or family-owned cottages on the lake. The Inn was renamed Walloon Lake Inn in 1981 and operated as a bed and breakfast as well as a restaurant. Today, the Walloon Lake Inn is a unique upscale restaurant, which was completely renovated in 2014. It is a premier lakeside fine dining destination for guests seeking creative cuisines, hand-crafted cocktails, an elegant atmosphere, and unparalleled service.

What’s one of your favorite moments at one of your weddings?
Each wedding is special, we truly love working with our sweet couples! One of our favorite moments from the 2020 wedding season was an intimate fall affair hosted on the outdoor patio. The couple shared their vows among their closest friends and family on the perfect fall day. The colors of the season were amplified with the backdrop of Walloon Lake and were celebrated with a signature Walloon Lake Inn champagne toast.
What are your favorite design elements of your venue?
Each design element of Walloon Lake Inn was hand-selected to complement the history of the building and create a unique dining environment. The dining room is decorated with timeless chandeliers, tin drop ceilings, snakeskin wall panels, and antique silver serving platters. Walloon Lake Inn also offers modern elements like a cooling wine display and piano bar.

Is there a set schedule at your venue?
There is no set schedule. We work closely with our couples to bring their Walloon Lake wedding vision to life.
Am I able to bring in my own vendors or do I have to choose from a list?
Our couples are able to select a vendor of their choosing. We do offer a preferred vendors list to assist with selections.
What time are my vendors able to set up the day of the wedding?
Our couples can work with their vendors to see what works best for their setup. We are very flexible.
Do you offer coordination and if so what does that entail?
Our sales team works closely with our couples to coordinate all requests possible.
Can couples bring their own alcohol?
No. Walloon Lake Inn provides all the alcohol service.
If I bring in my own caterer is there a kitchen available for them to use?
Walloon Lake Inn provides all Food & Beverage so you will work with our food and beverage team to create a menu that works for you!
Is there a food and beverage minimum?

Do you have an inclement weather space for outdoor activities?
We do have tents available for inclement weather.
How many hours are included in renting the space?
You have the space for 24 hours and can do with that time what you will.
Can we have multiple events ie; rehearsal dinner, welcome party, after wedding brunch etc.?
Yes! Walloon Lake Inn is an incredible venue for all events surrounding your special day. We offer creative elements for your bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, and fond farewell brunch on the outdoor patio.
